Relationship skills like empathy can help us have positive interactions, foster a sense of belonging to one another, inclusion in a group and positive emotions about ourselves and others. Empathy is putting yourself in other’s shoes and sympathy is feeling sorry for them. When we develop these skills together, this can lead to a safe, caring and inclusive culture for all. Today, let’s think about the power of empathy to strengthen our relationships.

Connecting to Our Faith

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. – Colossians 3:12-14
